NYCCAP's Break the Cycle

Sponsored by the NYCCAP Break the Cycle Committee--Angel Caraballo, MD; Molly Gangopadhyay, MD; Annie Li, MD; and Iliyan Ivanov, MD

Children are caught in a cycle of limited access to care, delayed treatment, and worsening illness. Our goal as child and adolescent psychiatrists is to BREAK THE CYCLE by collaborating with mental health professionals and parent advocates, funding innovative research initiatives, helping children get treatment, increasing awareness, and ending the needless sense of isolation.

This summer, Andrés Martin, MD, MPH, will cycle from Washington State to Washington, DC, leading a ride to raise awareness of the challenges faced by children and adolescents with mental illness. Dr. Martin is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and prominent member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) who is leading this cross-country bike ride.

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City’s most valuable public space--our streets. This year, NYCCAP is hosting a fundraising event for Break the Cycle (BtC), an effort to raise awareness and support to fund innovative research initiatives, increase the number of child and adolescent psychiatrists, and help ensure that children suffering in silence get the treatment they need. All members, friends, and families are invited. Please visit our webpage at
