May I bring  my pets?
Of course! Pets in the Park is open to pets of all shapes and sizes! There will be tons of activities for you and your best friends to enjoy. We do ask that responsible pet owners ensure that:
  • Pets are in good health, have all up-to-date vaccinations and not "in heat"
  • Pets are sociable with other animals and people
  • Pets are properly restrained at all times, either on a leash or in a carrier. NO retractable leashes please
  • Pets are monitored for heat sensitivity and hydration. Water will be supplied "community style" in wading pools
  • Pets are picked up after. Many garbage receptacles will be available throughout the event

Do I have to bring a pet?
No furry friend? No problem! Join us for a beautiful walk or run and a day of festival fun, all for a great cause!

What should my pet bring on the day of the event?
You and your pet should come prepared with a NON-retractable leash and clean-up bags (extra bags are always available). We’ll provide the water "community style".

NOTE: all pets in attendance should be up-to-date on all of their vaccinations.

My new puppy / kitten would love to attend Pets in the Park, is that OK?
We recommended that puppies and kittens younger than six months wait a year to attend Pets in the Park. The stress of the event and the company of so many other animals may be too much for your little guy or gal. At minimum puppies and kittens must have a full set of vaccinations, including boosters. Please consult with your veterinarian.

Where is William Hawrelak Park?
William HawrelakPark (9330 Groat Road) is located in the heart of Edmonton's river valley. The event is visible almost as soon as you enter the park!

Where should I park?
There is free parking available in William Hawrelak Park, but it does fill up very quickly. Shuttle Bus Service is available for families and pets ($1 per head, pets count too)! Park in the Stadium Car Park South (87 ave & 116 st) at the University of Alberta Campus (parking costs $5), and ride the bus down to the park. Shuttle busses run from 9:30 until 3:30 pm.

ETS requires patrons’ pets be under control while onboard the bus. Carry containers are not mandatory but are recommended for cats and small "lap" dogs.  Middle and larger sized dogs must wear muzzles and be on a leash while onboard a bus.  (Using your leash to muzzle is acceptable).

Alternatively, you may drop your family and pets off at William Hawrelak Park, park your vehicle at the stadium and return by shuttle.

How much does it cost to attend Pets in the Park 2013?
Attendance is free, but donations to support the Edmonton Humane Society are always welcome and encouraged. Many activities have a nominal fee for participation and all proceeds help the homeless animals in our community.

What will my donation be used for?
All of the proceeds from Pets in the Park go to help the homeless and abused companion animals cared for at the Edmonton Humane Society. The Society cares for thousands of animals every year - almost 13,000 in 2012 alone!

What is there to see and do at Pets in the Park?
There is a lot going on throughout the day. Click here to read all about the activities and see the event schedule.

Do I have to participate in the walk or run to attend Pets in the Park?

Pets in the Park will be open from 9 am to 4 pm. You’re welcome to skip the walk or run and just enjoy the festivities. We encourage you register for Pets in the Park so you can take full advantage of everything we have to offer and you will be helping homeless, abused and neglected animals!

How long is the walk / run?

The Petsecure PetHealth Insurance Walk is 2.5 km and begins at 11 am.

The Tail Blazers Fun Run is 5 km and begins at 10 am. For each, the path begins and ends in front of the stage at the festival site.

Do I have to raise pledges to attend Pets in the Park?
Raising money means more money for the animals, AND you can earn great prizes! However, raising pledges is not a requirement to attend the event. Click here to create your own fundraising page!

Do I have to be on a team to attend Pets in the Park?
All animal lovers are welcome at Pets in the Park whether you’re registered as an individual or as part of a team. Families do not have to form teams to attend. However, if you do decide to gather your family and friends together to form an official team, you’re eligible for even more great fundraising prizes! Click here to start your team!

If I’m on a team, can I still earn individual prizes for my fundraising efforts?
Yes, any money you raise will be kept in your individual record so you can earn prizes at an individual fundraising level. The money you raised will also be credited toward your team’s total. So, you’re eligible for team prizes, too!

Do I have to raise money online for Pets in the Park?
Registering online is always encouraged, but not required. You may want to ask your friends and family in person. Please download a printable pledge sheet here

The Edmonton Humane Society will also be distributing printed pledge flyers mid-May. Visit the Edmonton Humane Society or email us at plannedgiving@edmontonhumanesociety.com to request that one be mailed to you!

I have received cash and cheque donations. May I turn this money in to the Humane Society now and have the amount(s) reflected on my Personal Page and fundraising total?
Yes, you may send in these donations in as you receive them. You can update your personal page with your offline donations by clicking Donation Monitor and then Enter Offline Donations. When sending your offline donations to the EHS, please be sure to include your name as the “sponsored walker” and/or your team name as well.  Send donations to the Edmonton Humane Society Attn: Pets in the Park, 13620 163 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2.

How do my friends and family make donations in my name (or my team’s name) online?
It’s easy! Just send them to ehspetsinthepark.com and have them click on the Sponsor For A Participant link. They can then search for your name and make a secure donation online that, once processed, will be reflected in your individual total (Mastercard, Visa and American Express are accepted).

If someone supports me are they also considered team members?
No, they are not. In order to be considered a team member they have to register to join the team and their donation would be credited to them as an individual and to the team goal as a whole.

Do I have to register in advance?
You are welcome to register on-site at William Hawrelak Park on Sunday, July 7, 2013. We strongly encourage you to register in advance to shorten your waiting time.

What payment methods can I use at Pets in the Park?
We will accept cash, cheques and credit cards for all purchases at Pets in the Park that are being run by the Edmonton Humane Society. Many sponsors and exhibitors will have goods for sale and have their own restrictions on payment methods.

Really Rain OR Shine?
Yes, even if it’s raining cats and dogs we’ll still be at William Hawrelak Park on July 7, 2013. All event activities will proceed!  So, come and enjoy all of the fun even if it’s a little wet!
