My personal message

What is Cara H.E.L.L.Ps? Cara HELLPs is dedicated to honour our daughter Cara Kernohan who lost her life tragically and suddenly on October 5th, 2017 at the age of 29 years to Preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome at 35 weeks pregnant. Her miracle daughter Blakely Cara is a survivor and was born October 1st, 2017.

Our Goal: Through Cara H.E.L.L.P.s, our goal is to educate through public awareness, and help fundraise for the research of this deadly disorder and medical conditions of Preeclampsia and H.E.L.L.P syndrome. Research into Preeclampsia will reduce maternal and infant deaths. Although medical professionals continue to advance their knowledge and research around these conditions, there is a lot unknown.

Currently the Calgary Maternal Fetal Medicine Centre (EFW Seton location) is conducting a pilot study (The Enhanced First Trimester Screen Study (eFTS) with the goal of introducing a preeclampsia screening and prevention program in Calgary (along with other cities in Canada). The Impress Study (The Implementation of Preeclampsia Screening and Prevention Study) is currently underway, and actively seeing women who are interested in preeclampsia screening in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Our Fundraising Efforts Thus Far: We are proud to have raised $60,751 so far, of our $100,000 goal to assist in funding various research projects! We would like to thank everyone for all of the support so far, for making donations in memory of Cara, to attending and supporting the 1st and 2nd annual Walk/Run, and the 1st annual Golf Tournament. We are looking forward to the 3rd Annual Walk/Run on October 3rd, 2020, and hope to see you there! Thank you all for your donations and registrations for this year's Virtual Fundraiser!

Was great meeting you by "chance" last year and participating in the 5k while I was visiting from LA. Sorry about the CV disruption to your event. Hope everybody is well! Cheers, Stu Hindle (Christine Leonard's brother)
