FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Is America’s VetDogs a tax-exempt, not-for-profit charity?
    A. Yes, America’s VetDogs is 501(c)(3) charity as determined by the IRS.
Q. Is my personal registration fee to participate in the run tax deductible?
    A. No, but any additional donation made on top of your registration fee is.
Q. Are the race participant t-shirts true to size?
    A. All race shirts are DryBlend t-shirts: pre-shrunk, 50% polyester / 50% cotton. They typically run true to size in fit.
Q. Am I guaranteed an event shirt?
    A. ONLY online, runners/walkers that sign up online are guaranteed a shirt. Inventory is first come, first served while supplies last.
Q. Can I run with my dog?
    A. Running with dogs is not an option for the 5K race.  You can sign up for the 2-mile dog walk.  Click here to view the dog rules.
Q. Do I have to run or can I walk?
    A. Walking is allowed and welcomed. It is encouraged to sign-up for the 2-mile dog walk if you choose to go for a leisurely stroll. Having a dog is not a requirement!
Q. Are their age limitations?
    A. No
Q. Do you offer team registrations?
    A. Yes. You can register as part of a team via the Cause2Give process – simply select to add a team name by choosing team member (or select an already existing team name) to add to your registration details when entering your registration & payment details. You can also choose to create a team by choosing to be a team captain.
Q. Is there a military discount to participate?
    A. Yes, all military members will receive a $5 discount. This is an option when you register.
Q. Can I get a refund on my ticket or donation if I decide not to participate / incur an injury / realized I will not be in town for the event / would like pass my registration to someone else?
    A. No, unfortunately there are no refunds or transfers of registrations for any reason.
Q. How will the net funds be distributed?
    A. Following a full accounting of receipts and expenses in August/September, all NET proceeds will benefit America’s VetDogs.
Q. What should be done in the case of inclement weather?
    A. The event is held rain or shine
Q. Can I register on race morning?
    A. Yes, we do accept walk-up registrations at Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The fee to participate is $40. Be sure to sign-up early!
Q. Are running strollers permitted?
    A. Yes, running strollers are permitted. However, out of respect for runners/walkers without strollers, those with strollers should start at the back of the main group so as to not create a ‘traffic jam.’ Some of the 5K trail has hills, but the 2-mile walk is flat.
Q. Will I get a tee shirt if I register as a Virtual Runner?
    A. Yes, Virtual Runners will have an America’s VetDogs tee shirt mailed to your home.
Q. If I sign up to fundraise on behalf of America’s VetDogs, will I have the opportunity to win a prize?
    A. Yes, the top fundraiser is rewarded and will be sent a gift for their efforts.
Q. If I should place as a top finisher in the race, what will I receive?
    A. Top finishers in their category will win an America’s VetDogs race medal. 
Q. Will food be available?
    A. Bagels, fruit and water will be available for all registered participants.
Q. Will there be merchandise for sale?
    A. Yes, VetDogs branded merchandise will be available for purchase. Cash and credit cards accepted.
